New Visa requirements for Indonesia since February 2004

You can apply for a 30 or 60-day visa at an Indonesian Embassy or Consulate before entering Indonesia. Prices and processing time differ quite a lot at the various embassies.

TIP: the Indonesian Consulate in Penang charges 162 Malaysian Ringgit (35 €) for a 60-day visa and has it ready in the afternoon of the next (working) day. Bring 2 passport photo's, photo copies of return tickets to Indonesia and of financial credibility (like proof of 2000 US $ in traveler cheques or a copy of the two sides of your credit card, and if so, just black out your numbers to be on the safe side). At the embassies in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore it takes 3 working days to process. Embassies and consulates are open from Monday to Friday.

30-day Visa Free Facility
The citizens of countries whose governments offer visa-free facility to Indonesians as well, will continue to enjoy visa-free stays. The 11 countries that are granted the 30-day visa-free facility are: Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hongkong & Macao Special Administrative Regions, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
3 or 30-day Visa-On-Arrival
The nationals of 20 countries will be able to apply for a visa-on-arrival valid for either 3 or 30 days in Indonesia. A 3-day visit visa costs US$ 10; a 30 day visit visa costs US$ 25. The countries are: the Arab Emirates, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, United States.

Citizens of countries not on the visa-on-arrival or visa-free lists have to apply for a visa at an Indonesian Embassy before entering Indonesia.
